The Intertwining World of Music and Poker

2013 World Series of Poker

How the two complicated worlds unite

If there’s one aspect where poker and music harmonize together, it can be the fact that both worlds are highly competitive in terms of standards. As proven by Creed Feed, the music industry sees millions of great-sounding bands competing to have a solo record deal. Likewise, the article notes that more than 40 million people want to have a professional career at the felt, and conquer world tournaments such as the World Series of Poker (WSOP).

While both of them differ in nature and metrics, music and poker will always find its common ground. In fact, Betfair notes that songs such as The Beatles’ Revolver area vital tool in developing a dynamic table strategy. Here are other factors where the two share a common ground:
“The Eightfold Path to Poker Enlightenment”

Made by music and gaming enthusiasts Tommy Angelo, Wayne Lively, and Robe Cole, The Eightfold Path to Poker Enlightenment is a series of gaming videos, which are backed with songs to bring a player’s A-game. The project comes with soothing songs from different genres to enlighten the eight videos:
· Right view
· Right thinking
· Mindfulness
· Reciprocality
· Quitting
· Right Speech
· Right Action
· Tiltlessness

While some of the videos come with original recordings, the project makers also decided to include songs from different genres: Classical, Rock, and Miscellaneous. The selection includes the march variation of Beethoven’s Ode to Joy Theme, an 11-second snippet of Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir, and Neil Young’s After the Gold Rush.

Music poker festivities
Poker music festivals are a venue where enthusiasts from both worlds connive, as they combine gaming and musical entertainment. This is the modern-day philosophy of most gaming establishments nowadays, as they offer a high-octane table action, which is backed by live bands.

· Electric Daisy Carnival
The Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) is arguably the largest and the most successful music festival in the Sin City. One of the regular comers is Vanesa Rousso, a table gamer who just ventured in the music industry as Lady Maverick.

· Las Vegas Bike Festival
Also in the Sin City, the Las Vegas Bike Festival is one of the largest gatherings of budding musicians and avid table gamers. The yearly event houses around 27 activities, wherein most of the visitors enjoy the road shows and the Poker Tournament.

Jay-Z: The most famous – and perhaps the richest – poker musician
Aside from being a businessman, Jay-Z is the perfect embodiment of success in the two aspects. As of the latest reports, the rap mogul’s worth is now at $500 million, placing him and American Popstar Beyonce Knowles as the richest couple in the music industry. In the gaming scene, Jay-Z was reported to have spent $1 million in one of the kiosks in Las Vegas.

The aspects we’ve presented above just prove that music and poker can breathe the same air, whether in the degree of competitiveness or through the musicians striving to be table champions in their own right.

  2. Hi blogger, i found this post on 23 spot in google’s search results.
I’m sure that your low rankings are caused by hi bounce
rate. This is very important ranking factor. One of
the biggest reason for high bounce rate is due to visitors hitting the back
button. The higher your bounce rate the further down the search
results your posts and pages will end up, so
having reasonably low bounce rate is important for improving your rankings
